A True American Icon: The 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A 340 Six Pack
The 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A was a limited-production street version built to homologate Dodge’s entry into the SCCA Trans-Am racing series. This car captured the spirit of the track and stands as a piece of American muscle car history.
Powering this car is its numbers-correct 340 Six Pack V8 engine. The engine features three two-barrel Holley 2300 carburetors housed under a large oval air cleaner. The car currently has jet-coated headers and Mopar Performance valve covers, but the original T/A manifolds and valve covers are also included.
The Challenger’s performance is matched by its driver-focused setup. The A833 four-speed manual transmission is controlled by a Hurst Pistol Grip shifter. The car has side exhaust and a distinctive sound.
Finished in Dark Burnt Orange Metallic, this T/A has black T/A stripes, a black vinyl roof, and a fiberglass hood with fresh air intake and hood pins. The car rides on aftermarket mag wheels, but the original steel rims are also available.
This Challenger T/A is a well maintained and properly cared for driver. It has power steering and power brakes (front disc/rear drum) and Rallye Suspension. The car has been owned for the past 28 years by a retired Chrysler executive.
The car has just received a comprehensive service, including: Brakes (master cylinder, calipers, pads, wheel cylinders, hoses and rotors), New wheels and tires, New clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing. New Seat Belts.
Additional parts included: Original valve covers, 4 original wheels, Original exhaust manifolds, 4 1980s slotted mag wheels and Goodyear tires.
This is a well documented example, with its VIN plates decoded and both original broadcast sheets in hand. The car has been decoded by Galen Govier and is in the Galen Registery. This rare 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A offers a discerning enthusiast the opportunity to own a piece of Mopar history—
