The long awaited MGA Twin Cam was rolled out in early 1958. The first cars were delivered to established race teams and large dealerships. Kjell Qvale, the largest North American MG dealer with an extensive race team in California, received this car, #504 in mid-1958. Qvale campaigned #504 for 3 races.

This exceptional and historically significant 1958 MGA Twin Cam Roadster was the 4th Twin Cam out of only 2111 produced. This example was the first left hand drive Twin Cam built and was on the very first shipment of Twin Cams shipped to North America. Its history is well documented and includes racing at various tracks including Laguna Seca Raceway.

In 1963, #504 was purchased from Falvey Imports, an import car dealership in Detroit, MI. The new owner was a sports car enthusiast and raced the car periodically at Waterford Hills race track, north of Detroit. In 1966 the engine was removed for inspection and normal service. It was at this point #504 was placed in static storage where it would remain for the following 40 years.

In 2007 it was purchased by the current owner who embarked on a body off, comprehensive restoration. This included a bare metal refinish of the entire body in its original color of Orient Red. The chassis and suspension have also been completely stripped and refinished. Each and every component has been reworked to comply to its original operating specifications. The original engine has been completely rebuilt with parts and expertise supplied by Jim Alcorn, "Twin Cam Jim" of Auto Vintagery. The result is a beautiful and historical significant sports car that is as functional as it is stunning.

In its current livery, the car presents with the following features and modifications:

Cylinder head was ported, polished and valves were precisely ground and fit with new guides. Matched and balanced SU carburetors are mounted with the correct mesh air cleaners. All new bearings were installed along with a freshly reworked crankshaft. The specially prepared camshafts were checked and installed with new bearings. Cam timing was precisely set to the specifications provided by Jim Alcorn.
The factory windscreen was replaced with a cut down version but the original is retained with the car. The original bonnet was repainted at the same time as the car and set aside. A replacement bonnet was louvered and installed on the car. The original bonnet is included with the sale.
The differential is of the limited slip variety.
Under bonnet removable inner fender louvers were added to improve air circulation and accessibility to the engine. Widened factory wheels are wrapped with Pirelli 175/70VR15s.
The bumpers have been removed and retailed with the car. A smooth front valence has been installed to provide a nice finished appearance. The original valence has been retained and is included with the car.
