In the late 1970s Triumph proclaimed that their new TR7 was the shape of things to come. Their catchy slogan continued as they added the more powerful TR8 to the line up. The TR8 used a Rover sourced 215ci V8 with 155hp to replace the 4 cylinder used in the TR7. This provided a much more spirited driving experience and became popular with those who expected more power from their sports car.
This beautiful example has managed to remain with the same family since 1991. It has accumulated a scant 18,570 miles since new. This TR8 has just received a major service encompassing Full fluids flush, Power steering rack rebuild, Tune up, Alignment, New tires, Rear brakes and wheel cylinders, Clutch master and slave cylinders along with various other routine items.
The car runs and drives exceptionally well. It has received an upgraded aluminum intake manifold with a 4 barrel carburetor. This definitely improves the performance over the stock twin SU carburetors.
The car has benefitted from a repaint in its original color and the finish looks great. The body remains rust free and shows only minor and isolated imperfections. The transmission shifts seamlessly and grabs each gear with authority. This convertible top is believed to be the original and has a repair from a tear in the horizontal area. The repair does not appear to leak. All of the accessories are operational and work as they should.
This is a delightful British V8 Triumph that is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner and promises to provide many years of enjoyable memories.
